I'm sure you've glimpsed the Audi commercial with the white R8 bustin' out of a snow filled driveway. Pretty impressive, right?
There is more to this story (as there always is). The original video shows some truths. Sure the truth is that Quattro is a very capable AWD system. But the truth is also that the R8 in the clip was shod in dedicated winter tires. Once again showing that TIRES, not the car, is what's most important.
Try that with the standard issue rubber that the R8 is shipped with. The only person smiling in that aftermath would be the body shop you chose to repair the scars from the flatbed driver yanking off expensive shiny bits in an effort to free your mid-engined from the snowbank 100 yards from your driveway.
