It's all about momentum...
Racing is more about finesse than power. When your doing it right it feels like dancing. This is most apparent when in a Spec Miata. Watch Brody Goble move from last place to 4th using his wits, patience, and yes; momentum. Even when more powerful cars do something stupid in front of you, patience must remain in plentiful supply. Sure a little venting helps (like at 8:25), but never let it get in the way of your primary focus: maintain your rhythm, preserve your momentum.

Call this what not to do with your student. Call it excellent car control. Call it every Miata should be boosted. What's for sure is the amount of fun these guys were having... even on street tires...
