I'm always on the lookout for unique perspectives on our car culture addiction. What's most interesting to me is how individuals manage to combine their professional lives with their love of cars and all things speed.
1/10th the size, same amount of fun...
I think everyone at some point or another (or maybe currently) have had radio controlled cars. I just don't remember them looking this good. Maybe it's because we never raced them at night. It probably was the lack of Rockstar energy drinks...
Let it SNOW!!! **UPDATED**
It's still snowing. It's been snowing since early afternoon here in New Jersey. 40 MPH winds were pushing drifts to hip level a few hours ago. Who knows how deep it is now...
Absolutely Useless File - #3
No, this guy did not snap an upper control arm. No, his shock tower didn't fail and pop through his speaker cover. It's called "Demon Camber" and is all the rage in Japan; and of course, now making an impact in California. If what you mean by impact is your kidney colliding with your collar bone.
KTM X-Bow - Why do Europeans get to have so much fun?
Do you dream about carving your favorite road in an open topped, carbon fiber, turbocharged street-legal go-kart? How about 1,750 pounds motivated by an Audi 2.0 liter turbo powerplant? How about 0-60 in under 4 seconds?
Mommas - Don't let your babies grow up to be.... parking attendants???
In a never-ending effort to expose you to all things automotive; relevant or not; check out this trailer. FINALLY!!! A movie about another un-sung hero of our day - the parking lot attendant.

Smokey Nagata - Our Favorite Japanese Outlaw
What do you do if you feel that racing, drifting, and drag racing isn't enough to promote your go-fast bits? How about 200+ MPH runs on public roads? Then YouTube the videos for all to see. Then get arrested. Oh yeah, then do it on multiple continents.
UAE Drift, this time not on city streets or in traffic...
You gotta love anyone who drifts an e30. I'm so tired of watching super-low S13's tear up their rubber, this was such a welcome find!
SAVE THE 'RING!
I'm so tired of this recession. The current economic situation will definitely affect how many track days I do next summer, but now one the hallowed grounds which I dream about is being threatened?
BMW M3 - 25 Years and Still a Performance Icon
I've always been a fan of the BMW M3. This article is specifically focused on the e30 incarnation, the first M3. Sports Car Digest is one of my favorite sites, always a good read. Put it on your blog list!
As if I needed another way to waste time...
Every now and then I run into something on the web that proves that somewhere there is a place where clocks stop. Life as we know it pauses and allows for hobbies that are so time consuming that they would make house arrest seem appealing.

Inside Ralph Lauren's Garage Style: vanityfair.com
The question is:
If you had (basically) unlimited resources, what would your car collection look like?
Would you concentrate on a single make?
A single period of history?
American muscle or vintage European?
Race cars or production?

REAL OEM - BMW parts ID for pros.......
Growing up, my father always either worked in a dealership or worked closely with dealerships. So in addition to growing up on the shop floor of various German-make auto dealerships, playing with ball-bearings from the hydraulic press area, and collecting various bits and pieces as I matured;

Audi R8 LMS... ok ok it's a shrine....
A picture is worth a thousand words:
I've always been a fan of the German ROC (Race of Champions) series. Reminiscent of the old IROC series here in the US, but with some twists. And now with the Audi R8 LMS (now in my top 5 car list) as one of the stars of the show; it's a must see.

Really? A hot car in hot pink is NOT a hot idea.
NOT a photoshop job (sadly). ACTUAL sighting!
That's right! Audi's Exclusive program will let you build the most hideous combination that your heart desires and your checkbook can withstand. You too can defile an example of automotive artwork for your own egotistical desires for a fee. A large fee. Obviously not large enough.
Only 1 Cure for Winter Blues....
Winter took it's first swing at me Tuesday morning. I woke up to see a light dusting on the ground, nothing to worry about mind you; just enough to cement the fact that I have December blues.
What makes me feel better? How about some in-car video from some of last summer's track days?
The ultimate blending of car culture and the male condition - CAR CHASES!!!
Ok, you got me. I love car chases. Something about combining my passion for cars along with my equally perverse love of danger and speed.
Speed Channel quenched my never-ending thirst for the above with their Hollywood's Hottest Car Chases show that I caught (quite embarrasingly) by mistake. Here's a quick list from their site and some direct links to what could be considered the best representation of what makes us car junkies tick.

If you love cars as much as I do, you must have stumbled upon the impressive website http://www.canepa.com/ .
Audi Le Mans - Breaking News!!!
I'm all about the Audi LeMans team. I love watching the McNish/Kristensen/Capello team in action and happy to see that they will be kept together for the 2011 race. The car looks like a winner already, but with rule changes forcing Audi to use a closed cockpit, it could potentially cause some hangups with driver changes.
Can't wait to see those LED's in action!!!!
Porsche GT3 Action and Sound
Everyone knows that if it doesn't SOUND fast, it's no fun to watch. Using that logic, this will be the most fun 9 minutes you are about to experience. Air-cooled or water-cooled, why is it that all 911's always sound so good?
Turn the volume UP!!!
A few words on tires.....
I've been in the business of cars for over 17 years. Countless times I hear comments such as "I have all-wheel drive, so I can drive in snow" or "My car is rear-wheel drive so I need to get a car I can drive in the winter".
And every time my answer is the same - GET DEDICATED WINTER TIRES!!! Some examples:

Targa Newfoundland - On the to-do list for sure.....
Every September there are 1,367 miles of pristine countryside in the scenic province of Newfoundland that become the stage for the only road race of it's kind in North America. More than just a TSD tarmac rally event, it's a week long social event fueled by the love of cars, motorsport, and camaraderie.

From the absolutely useless file:
The question is-what is the practical application for a '80's Vette in camo?
I don't even know what to say...
VW Jetta traysliding
Yes that's a front wheel drive. Yes those are lunch trays under the rear wheels. Yes it is more important that you drift, rather than what you drift. Yes I will be trying this tomorrow.
And yes, of course I will be needing to borrow someone's front wheel drive vehicle...

Dahlbäck - And you thought the Swedes only played with Volvo's and Saab's!!
This is one of my all-time favorite YouTube finds. A little old, yes. Timeless classic in my book!
