Racing has it's inherent dangers. High speeds, drastic g-forces, highly competitive egos mixed with somewhat dubious judgment... etc...
When things go wrong, they go wrong quickly. Luckily these days of cages and fuel cells and nomex and safer barriers usually mean it will end in a few bumps and bruises, but nothing more.
One can replay the event over and over again, sometimes from multiple angles, and see what went wrong. To learn from it, to grow from the experience, to not repeat it again.
When not to accelerate, when to brake. When to turn in, when not to let go. When to brace yourself for impact, and, of course, when not to whimper like a little schoolgirl...
